Here’s some of them, and they all use the same State serial number code shown above: This is important to look for, because some retailers have switched manufacturers over the years. If you look carefully at the bottom of the data plate, you will see the name of the actual manufacturer in fine print. Many have been discontinued for years, but a few older water heaters with these nameplates may still be around. ![]() State Industries has also manufactured water heaters under multiple other brand names over the years. Newer State water heaters, like the one shown below from 2013 also list the “BUILD DATE” below the serial number so there’s no interpretation necessary but, for older ones, you will have to depend on the serial number. The first two numbers of the serial number of a State water heater are the year of manufacture. ![]()
